St Clears Times At National Library Of Wales

Editor Hands Over First Issue The St. Clears Times has been hand delivered to the National Library of Wales for archiving. The editor of the St. Clears times, Alan Evans visited the library to meet with library archivist Mark Evans to find out more about the new regulations regarding printed publications. The National Library of Wales is one of five UK legal deposit libraries, which are entitled to claim, free of charge a copy of any printed publication published in the UK. This ensures that the UK's published output is available for students and researchers of the future. The Legal Deposit Libraries Act 2003 is the most recent update to legislation regarding legal deposit and modified previous legislation by making provision for the deposit of publications in non-print formats at some future time. It empowers the Secretary of State for Culture Media and Sport to make regulations requiring the deposit publications in electronic and other formats. Since 2004, the UK's legal deposit libraries have been collecting electronic

publications on a voluntary deposit basis and the National Library of Wales has been archiving websites as part if the UK Web Archive. The UK web archive can be found at www.webarchive.org.uk The website of the St. Clears Times will also be archived.
