Does your faith work?

  1. 1. Does Your Faith Work? Or, what goes in determines what comes out
  2. 2. Broken? Or Working? • There are watches that run and watches that don’t run • In some ways a Christian can be compared to a watch
  3. 3. A Faith That Works • How does a Christian obtain a “real faith”, that is one that works? • What kind of faith will lead to salvation? • Hebrews 10:38-39
  4. 4. FAITH COMES BY HEARING • Romans 10:17 So belief cometh of hearing, and hearing by the word of Christ • Consider the principle of “what goes in, is what comes out” • Matthew 15:16-20 • Christians today need to consider what is “going into” their hearts
  5. 5. Important to Know God’s Word • it is the SOURCE of our faith • Psalm 1:1-3 • Psalms 63 • it is so easy to be distracted by other, more common concerns

  7. 7. THE BATTLE FOR INFLUENCE • Satan is working to destroy your faith in God • 2 Corinthians 2:11 • The Word of God is your protection against ungodliness • Psalm 119
  8. 8. God’s Influence On You • • • • • • Through His revelation Jesus Christ The Holy Scriptures John 6:63 2 Corinthians 10:3-5 Galatians 2:20
  9. 9. WHAT GOES IN, MUST COME OUT • This principle is a “constant” in human experience • Galatians 6:7-8 • IF the Word of God is truly in you, it will find a way to “get out” • • • • Jeremiah 20:9 Acts 4:18-20 1 Corinthians 9:16 Mark 7:31-37
  10. 10. Romans 13:11-14 And this, knowing the season, that already it is time for you to awake out of sleep: for now is salvation nearer to us than when we first believed. 12. The night is far spent, and the day is at hand: let us therefore cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armor of light. 13. Let us walk becomingly, as in the day; not in revelling and drunkenness, not in chambering and wantonness, not in strife and jealousy. 14. But put ye on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make not provision for the flesh, to fulfil the lusts thereof.
  11. 11. Romans 10:8 But what saith it? The word is nigh thee, in thy mouth, and in thy heart: that is, the word of faith, which we preach:
