They were attracted tothe considerable activity and impact generated by the entrepreneurial ecosystem inthe area of e-commerce and new technology in the Spanish city.Akamon is the only startup chosen for this visit to Spain, which takes in Madrid, Sevilleand Barcelona, and on which the students have visited big businesses including BancoSantander, Telefónica, FEMEX, Real Madrid, Inditex and AGBAR.On the delegation’s arrival at the company’s offices, Akamon Entertainment president,Carlos Blanco, welcomed the students and 1997 Nobel laureate for economics, MyronScholes, stressing: ‘the fact that students from one of the most reputable universities inthe United States, from which important companies in Silicon Valley have been born,are interested in a company like Akamon, and the entrepreneurial activity in Barcelona,shows that we are generating solid business with an international projection that willallow us to keep the economy going.’During their visit to Akamon, the students attended a presentation of the companyand the social games sector, and participated in a lively debate with companyprofessionals.

Akamon, with nearly 6 million registered users on its websites Mundijuegos.com inSpain, Mundijeux.fr in France and Ludijogos.com in Brazil, expects a turnover of 8million Euros in 2012 – 15% of which is expected to be generated from its games onFacebook.
