Transcript

  • 1. Why is it better to send your kids to the countryside to run around naked than to spend a few hundred bucks on design classes?
  • 2. So sending my kid to some wilderness camp in the middle of no where, where they behave like barbarians, is going to make them better designers?
  • 3. Yes. It is about what you discover, when you are uninhibited.
  • 4. Being uninhibited engages our five senses.
  • 5. What do our five senses have to do with design?
  • 6. What makes Design so important anyway?
  • 7. And what makes a good Designer?
  • 8. Are Designers born or made?
  • 9. What if we had the technology to manufacture Designers?
  • 10. People bred for the sake of fashioning solutions?
  • 11. Or maybe we could just farm Designers?
  • 12. Have them bred in test tubes or maybe free range?
  • 13. Wow! Isn’t that a Good Idea?
  • 14. And how do Good Ideas come about?
  • 15. Through Seeing?
  • 16. Hearing?
  • 17. Smelling?
  • 18. Tasting?
  • 19. Touching?
  • 20. Yes. So I get the message. Five Senses.
  • 21. What’s so great about the five senses?
  • 22. We are born with the senses we need to engage the world around us.
  • 23. Our ability to see, hear, taste, touch and smell, enables us to observe, absorb and relate experiences.
  • 24. We need to actively use these senses as tools of interaction.
  • 25. We need to understand how people experience.
  • 26. We need to ask questions.
  • 27. And be comfortable with having more questions than answers.
  • 28. Because the solution, is in the question.
  • 29. That is the start to thinking like a Designer.
