What is MDMA ? is an entactogenic drug of the phenethylamineand amphetamine class of drugs.(3,4-methylenedioxy-N-methylamphetamine) induce euphoria, a sense of intimacy with others,and diminished anxiety. MDMA was developed in Germany in the early1900s as intermediate chemical used in thesynthesis of a hydrastinine (a drug to controlbleeding from wounds).7

How does it work ? MDMA acts as a releasing agent of serotonin,norepinephrine, and dopamine (DA). Serotonin is a neurotransmitter that plays animportant role in the regulation of mood,sleep, pain, appetite, and other behaviors. The excess release of serotonin by MDMAlikely causes the mood elevating effects andnegative behavioral aftereffects for severaldays after taking MDMA.9

How Dangerous are XTC Pills ? It costs per pill between 5-25 $ Most of MDMA users are young. Analysis shows that many pills that aresold as XTC pills are really not XTC at all. They dont contain MDMA. It contains MDEA (Eve) or othersubstances(e.g. cocaine) with even biggerrisks. And also the dose is often verydifferent.17

It canintensify depression, panic attacks andpsychosis. XTC combined with other substances likealcohol and medicines is very risky. Some people are more sensitive to MDMA.So, sometimes…..21

A high temperature and anirregular heartbeat are obvious alarmingsymptoms.27
  28. 28. Is there a Treatment ? There are currently no pharmacologicaltreatments for dependence on MDMA. Drug abuse recovery supportgroups may be effective incombination with behavioralinterventions to supportlong-term, drug-free recovery.28
  29. 29. conclusion Ecstasy is MDMA. Under amphetamine class of drugs. Illegal. gives a feeling of happiness and energy. Used in clubs. Releases serotonin. Can cause Organ failure. If mixed with alcohol can lead to death. psychological dependence (alcohol addiction, likeEcstasy addiction) Some people can abuse drugs, but not becomeaddicted.29
