Ad choice :
Those “Ads by Google” and “i” labels on AdSense ads will soon be replaced by an “AdChoices”
triangle icon and label, as Google moves to comply with an industry initiative from the Self-
Regulatory Program for Online Behavioral Advertising. It will be the single largest roll-out of the
“AdChoices” label to date, giving significant momentum to the effort.
The program, aimed at regulating the industry before the government steps in, is backed by the
American Association of Advertising Agencies (the Four As), the Association of National
Advertisers (ANA), the American Advertising Federation (AAF), the Direct Marketing Association
(DMA), the Interactive Advertising Bureau (IAB), the Better Business Bureau (BBB) and the
Network Advertising Initiative (NAI).
Google says that its testing of this label has showed no impact on advertising performance.
Display ads, which previously had the “i” label, will display the triangle “i” icon. Text ads, which
previously said “Ads By Google,” will now say “AdChoices.” When consumers click on the “i”
triangle icon on display ads, it will expand out to say “AdChoices.” When they click on either
AdChoices label, they’ll be taken to a page where they can learn more about online advertising.
The page will also link users to Google’s advertising preferences page, where they can see the ad
categories associated with their cookie. They can also remove categories, opt-in to more, or opt
out of behavioral tracking altogether.

Ad Words :
Google's main advertising product and main source of revenue. Google's total advertising
revenues were USD$42.5 billion in 2012. AdWords offers pay-per-click, that is, cost-per-click (CPC)
advertising, cost-per-thousand-impressions or cost-per-mille (CPM) advertising, and site-targeted
advertising for text, banner, and rich-media ads. The AdWords program includes local, national,
and international distribution. Google's text advertisements are short, consisting of one headline
of 25 characters and two additional text lines of 35 characters each. Image ads can be one of
several different Interactive Advertising Bureau (IAB) standard sizes.
Sales and support for Google's AdWords division in the United States is based in Mountain View,
California, with major secondary offices in Ann Arbor, Michigan , the company's second largest
office is located in New York. The third-largest US facility is in Mountain View, California,
headquarters . Engineering for Google AdWords is based in Mountain View, California.

Ad Planner :
If you're a media planner at an ad agency, you know that planning an online display buy can be challenging,
particularly in scaling your campaign's reach while keeping it relevant for your target audience. Plus, how do
you keep track of the millions of sites out there that might be just right for your campaign?
To make your life easier, we're introducing Google Ad Planner, a research and media planning tool that
connects advertisers and publishers. When using Google Ad Planner, simply enter demographics and sites
associated with your target audience, and the tool will return information about sites (both on and off the
Google content network) that your audience is likely to visit. You can drill down further to get more detail like
demographics and related searches for a particular site, or you can get aggregate statistics for the sites you've
added to your media plan.
While Google Trends for Websites, announced last week, is designed for all users, Google Ad Planner is
designed with media planners in mind. Using Google Ad Planner, you can quickly create media plans and export
to a .csv file, which can be opened in most spreadsheet applications. Or, you can export to DoubleClick's Media
Visor, which helps you manage all your other media planning, buying and campaign management activities.
