Mainstream Commercialised Magazines

Capital Sans-serif font used, gives a more simplistic reading style appealing to all readers. The masthead of this magazine is in asimplistic font and not in bold capitals. This represent the conventional indie style that embodies the target audience to this magazine. Reference to the BFI creates a more mature feel to the magazine in addition to reassuring that the institution of independent films are still represented. Barcode is a generic magazine cover item that is usually on the front cover. The text overlaps the image showing that the magazine doesn't rely as much on the image as it does on articles featured. The colour yellow adding a standout feel against the black and red font. Hand written like font style representing the less mainstream films and gives a more artistic element to the magazine world. Differences in colours make each article stand out and creates a sense of importance for the magazine. Main image isn't mainstream showing that the magazine isn’t ass commercial and targets a specific type of audience. Plain background signifies that this magazine has a lower budget that mainstream film magazines and again notifies the audience that this magazine concentrates more on lower budget films.
The masthead of this magazine is simple and conventional. Image is anchoring the magazine name, in this case its the star featured that sells is used as a unique selling point The continuous use of the word independent to express that its not as mainstream as other film magazines Reference to Black Swam, this is a blockbuster film, showing that the magazine also gives some attention to major feature films. Name of the actor featured on the magazine cover is also visible in the magazine. The use of different colours to show the text and put specific on the differences between the many articles James Franco to be on the front cover of this magazine shows that because its a American magazine it can use popular Hollywood also catch the attention of audience even though its representing independent filming industry.
