To find out what route your neighborhood is on, please visit www.nashville.gov/routelookup. You can also contact Public Works directly at www.nashville.gov/pw/talktous.htm. If your neighborhood does not happen to be within Metro Public Works' service area, you will have to establish garbage pickup through an independent company. You can find a list of independent waste management companies serving the Nashville area through the online Yellow Pages. Tennessee Driver's License A Tennessee driver's license is issued by the state Department of Safety and must be obtained within 30 days of establishing residency. Written, vision and road tests, a photo and a $12.50- $26.50 fee are required. A valid out-of-state license will exempt the road and written tests. Free handbooks are available at examining stations. Library Card Library cards are free to all residents of Davidson County and those living within the Goodlettsville city limits. Hard liquor and wine are sold at package stores. Beer and malts can be sold at grocery and convenience stores. TN has one of the strictest DUI laws in the country. First offense incurs a jail sentence, probation, a fine, court costs and loss of your license for one year. Marriage License Both applicants must appear at the County Clerks Office 8-4:30 pm.
