  • Firstly what do CFG do? CFG supply menu solutions with an extensive range of products from factories in the UK, Europe and the Far East, to the food service industry throughout the UK. CFG o perate through four core activities: as an Agency/Broker trading , whereby we source products from within Europe to meet specific caterer/ wholesaler requirements, consolidation take over the inventory control, distribution, invoicing and credit Control from the producer enabling them to concentrate on production own brands - these can be made available to those manufacturers currently without a presence in foodservice, thus giving them an entry into the marketplace. They are a mid sized company with an annual turnover pre Navision £10m 1 year later without needing to appoint any additional resource they have increased turnover by 25% to £12.5 million
  • Needed a system to enable them to grow their business; future plans were to grow their business rapidly, make their business more efficient, more responsive and more profitable Navision comes as standard with very comprehensive functionality but you need only purchase the functionality that your enterprise requires. Additional granules of fuctionality can be added at any point. Navision provide the option of either running its own proprietory database, or and SQL databse. Navision can hold almost unlimited levels of historic data which is all instantly available to the user (Chubb >£1m per month and yet to archive history after ? years Navision can handle hundreds of users. NAvision is a multi currency and multi lingual system. CFG chose Navision for its ability to be customised to provide the special requirements Streamline the user interface for order entry Promotional pricing Demand failure recording special price authorisation Automatic notification of new product per customer requesting price Introduce pallet efficiency on Orders (based on pallet fill mutiples set up against each Item) Customisations are built within Navision as opposed to other systems which often utilise external customisations which are “bolted on”. The advantage of this is that the customisations look exactly like the standard product and automatically utilise Navisions unique navigation features. We use the source code to Navision. Also as a Microsoft product, CFG were confident that the current and future releases would be designed for optimum integration with other Microsoft products.
  • To help to minimise the impact of the implementation in terms of resource and training, and in order to meet the critical go-live date, the implementation was phased to provide only key requirements in the first stage. Further “nice to have” refinements and functionality were identified and planned into phase 2 The Short go live was absolutely critical to CFG. This was to prevent parallel processing in two systems and to be able to benefit from the new system immediately into a new financial year. They also had immediate plans for growth which needed to be encompassed. They are able to instantly access information and provide accurate and up to date reports quickly and easily They have reduced off system tasks and streamlined processes Through their specialised customisations they have been identify and make real improvements to the quality of their interactions with both customers and vendors A major challenge in this industry is to make a profit from very tight margins, CFG need to be as efficient as possible: CFG hope to improve their margins through streamlined order processing and optimisation of order profitability using their specialised pallet fill functionality.
  • CFG pride themselves on their excellent standard of service and are always striving to improve the relationships with both vendors and customers. They envisage that the ability to monitor customer demand and report on demand failures will enable them to further improve the quality of service to customers, allowing them to identify and respond to potential problems quickly. In the 1 st year of business using Navision they have achieved 25% increase in turnover without requiring any additional resource.
