Dale E. Fridell Memorial Scholarship
The newest installment is called the 2010-2011 Dale E. Fridell Memorial Scholarship, and it's open to anyone currently attending or aspiring to attend a university, college, trade school, technical institute, vocational training or other post-secondary education program in the 2010-2011 academic year.
In addition, eligible students may not have already been receiving or awarded a full-tuition scholarship or waiver from another source.
International students are welcome to apply.

Get out of Debt Scholarship
To be eligible for the scholarship, you must be attending or planning to attend a college, trade school, technical institute, vocational program or other post-secondary education program in the 2010 - 2011 academic year.

Ruth Stanton Community Grant
The Ruth Stanton Community Grant is available to students who are active in community service. You must answer the three essay questions listed on the sponsor's Web site in 100 words or less and include one letter of recommendation from a non-family member to be eligible for this award.
1. How would $500.00 help you change your community or make the world a better place? Identify concrete steps to reach your goals.
2. What projects have you already done? (Photo ﾕ s will be accepted and will be returned with SASE only.)
3. List the awards have you won for your past community service. If you haven ﾕ t won any yet, tell me why you deserve recognition for your accomplishments.

Mesothelioma Memorial Scholarships
Mesothelioma Memorial Scholarship is open to all students attending not only traditional colleges (four-year and two-year institutions), but also vocational/technical programs, continuing education, ministry training and job skills training programs.

Art School Scholarship
Established in 2004, StraightForward Media's $500 Art School Scholarships are offered four times per year to help the artists of tomorrow complete their schooling.

BlackStudents.com Scholarship Essay Contest
To be eligible for the scholarship award, one or both of your parents must be African-American.
The award is not open to students who live in Africa. You must live in the United States, and attend or plan to attend a school in the United States. The institution you choose can be any trade school, college, or university.
After you subscribe with BlackStudents.com, you have until December 31, 2010 to write a 500 word essay on whether or not you feel that Black students face racism issues while in college.

National Precast Concrete Association Scholarship
Any high school seniors, undergraduate or graduate current college students interested in careers related to the precast concrete industry.

All-Ink.com College Scholarship Program
All-Ink.com is offering scholarships to qualified students who are enrolled or planning to participate in an accredited college or university program during the Spring 2010 or Fall 2010 term or full-year 2010-2011 school year. Students who apply must be a United States citizen or permanent resident with a minimum 2.5 Grade Point Average.
In addition, students applying are required to complete a 50 to 200 word essay about who has had the greatest impact on your life, and a 50 to 200 word essay on what you hope to achieve in your personal and professional life after completing college.

Illustrators of the Future Contest
The Contest is open to Entrants from all nations.
All themes of science fiction and fantasy illustrations are welcome.
The Contest is open to those who have not previously published more than three black-and-white story illustrations.
An entry shall consist of three illustrations done by the entrant in a black-and-white medium. Each must represent a theme different from the other two.

Writers of the Future Contest
No entry fee is required, and all rights in the story remain the property of the author. All types of science fiction, fantasy and dark fantasy are welcome.
All entries must be original works, in English. Plagiarism, which includes the use of third-party poetry, song lyrics, characters or another person's universe, without written permission will result in disqualification. Excessive violence or sex, determined by the judges, will result in disqualification. Entries may not have been previously published in professional media.
To be eligible, entries must be works of prose, up to 17,000 words in length.

The Gates Millennium Scholars
All citizens of the United States and Permanent residents are eligible. Students must be either African American, American Indian/Alaska Native, Asian Pacific Islander American or Hispanic American.
Educators are encouraged to nominate those students they feel meet the program eligibility requirements.
Students must have attained a cumulative GPA of 3.3 on a 4.0 scale and will be entering a U.S. accredited college or university as a full time, degree-seeking freshman in the fall; have demonstrated leadership abilities through participation in the community service, extracurricular or other activities.

Ronald Reagan Future Leaders Program
Applicants must be at least sophomores, enrolled full-time as students at 4-year accredited degree-granting institution in U.S, and be able to demonstrate that they have campus or community leadership. Students must be American citizens.
An essay is required in which students, in at least 500 words and no more than 750, must discuss their leadership initiatives on behalf of freedom, American values, and Constitutional principles. Two letters of recommendation are also required.

Russ Griffith Memorial Scholarship (formerly Returning Student Scholarship)
For outstanding students currently attending an eligible Datatel client institution who have returned to school after an absence of five years or longer.
International students are welcome to apply.
The Returning Student scholarship is open to full- and part-time students (taking at least six credit hours), as well as undergraduate and graduate students.
The Returning Student scholarship personal statement essay should discuss the impact of being a returning student, the challenges of combining life interests, such as work and family, along with school, and the importance of receiving a Returning Student scholarship to help achieve a dream.

Datatel Angelfire Scholarship
Honoring soldiers who have served US military during combat.
In the Asian theater (Vietnam, Cambodia, or Laos) during the 1964-1975 time-frame. A spouse or child of a Vietnam Veteran, or a refugee from Vietnam, Cambodia, or Laos is also eligible.
The Angelfire scholarship is open to full-time and part-time students (taking at least six credit hours), as well as undergraduate and graduate students.
A personal statement essay is required and must summarize how the conflict has affected the applicant personally.

John F. and Anna Lee Stacey Scholarship
The John F. and Anna Lee Stacey Scholarship for Art Education serves to support young men and women who aim to make art their profession. The Scholarship seeks “worthy and serious-minded students of conservative art, namely painting and drawing
Candidates must be between 18 and 35 years old.
Submissions must include no more than 10 slides of the following: a) painting from life; b) drawing from the figure (nude); c) composition; d) landscape; e) other examples of best works
The application also asks for a photograph of the applying artist and a letter outlining the artist’s ambitions and explaining their plans and objectives. They also ask for letters of reference.

AFSA Financial Aid Award
Students must be claimed as dependent on the most recent IRS tax form by a US government Foreign Service employee.
Attend or will be attending full-time (12 hours or more) as an undergraduate at an U.S. college, university, community college, post-secondary, art school, conservatory, etc. One year study abroad under the auspice of the student's American college or university is allowed.
Maintain a satisfactory academic record (2.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale or C average).
Complete his/her undergraduate degree in four years.
Demonstrate financial need.

The Scholarships.com database has good coverage of awards and a fairly precise match, but some of the scholarship entries in the Scholarships.com database appear to contain old information

Peterson’s Scholarship Search
The Peterson's scholarship search lists awards from about 2,000 sponsors. This is the same database used to update Peterson's Scholarships, Grants and Prizes book. The web site was a little slow and the match precision very low, forcing one to dig through a lot of irrelevant awards. Otherwise the coverage of available awards was very good.

Online Scholarship Databases
NextStudent offers a free scholarship search as a loss leader to attract students to their student loan products and services. Their scholarship search is based on the scholarship database formerly known as Scholarships101 . The search results lists each named award from the same award program separately, leading to a large number of matches that correspond to a single application form.
ScholarshipExperts offers a free online scholarship search and college search service. The award listings include detailed information about the awards and also allow one to look at a separate list of expired awards. The web site is supported by advertising.
Online Scholarship Databases
The BrokeScholar scholarship database appears to overlap with the Peterson's scholarship database and may include a licensed subset of that database. The award listings have minimal information.
