  • 2. The Te-form of a verb followed by から (hereafter~てから) means ‘after ~ ing’. Do not confuse this form as it means ‘because’. After ~てから 2. Expressing a Sequence of Events (2) ‘After’
  • 3. Sequence of Events 7:00 am 8:00 am I do jogging. I eat breakfast. ジョギングをします。 あさごはんを たべます。 ジョギングを してから、あさごはんを たべます。 After I do jogging, I eat breakfast. ジョギングを します。 して から te-form + から
  • 4. Hanako-san, what did you do after the party finished? はなこさんは パーティーが終わってから、何をしましたか。 お   なに ええっと、、、(パーティーが終わってから )、! ともだちと カラオケに行きました。 お   い  Let me see. . . I went to karaoke with friends (after the party finished).
  • 5. Hanako-san, did you go somewhere after the party finished last night? ななこさん、ゆうべ パーティーが終わってから、どこか行きましたか。 お   い  Conversation Q1 : Did you go somewhere after the party finished last night?! Q2 : Ask related questions. Is that so? What kind of songs did you sing? そうですか。どんな うたをうたったんですか。 アニソンをたくさんうたったんです。 I sang many anime songs. Anime songs? I wanted to go, too. アニソンですか。わたしも 行きたかったです。 い  Let me see. . . I went to karaoke with friends ええっと、、、ともだちと カラオケに行きました。 い 
  • 6. However, ∼てから can also mean “since …” and in this sense it is often accompanied by the adverb ずっと meaning “the whole time. I began my study of Japanese after I came to Japan.! 日本に 来てから、日本語の べんきょうを はじめました。 ! I have been studying Japanese ever since I came to Japan.! 日本に 来てから ずっと 日本語の べんきょうを しています。 !
