Barcaple Facts The Abernethy Trust has been operating as an outdoor activity provider since 1971 Barcaple is the latest addition to the family of centres The centre accommodates 50 It’s located on the edge of the Galloway country forest park, about 5 km from Kirkcudbright The house dates back to Victorian times and is set within its own 18 acre estate

DormsAccommodation is within the main house. Dorms are of different sizesand come equipped with bunk beds and wash basins. Lights out is at 10pm!

Health and Safety Abernethy Trust Centres are all inspected and licensed by Adventure Activities Licensing Authority Instructors are all experienced and fully qualified in the activities they lead Equipment is regularly checked and maintained Instructors are all first aid trained Minibuses all have 3 point seatbelts, fire extinguishers and first aid kits Drivers all receive in-house training and assessments. Vehicles are regularly checked and maintained Food services teams are committed to food safety and adhere to strict guidelines in kitchen hygiene The centre operates a strict no-smoking policy Centre buildings are equipped with automatic fire detection and alarm systems which are regularly tested Fire and safety procedures are explained to the children on arrival Team members undergo police checks through Disclosure Scotland Centres are locked up each night after lights out
What To Bring Towel and Wash Kit Socks (thick and warm) T-Shirts Trousers (not denims) Track suit bottoms Sweaters or sweat shirts Windproof jacket Swimwear Trainers (bring an extra old pair for canoeing if possible) Indoor shoes and wellies (or walking boots) Gloves Small rucksack Torch Drink bottle (that doesn’t leak)!!
