  4. 4. Golden age under President Ayub Khan (1959–1969) <ul><li>The '60s decade is often cited as being the golden age of cinema in Pakistan. </li></ul><ul><li>Many A-stars were introduced in this period in time and became legends on the silver screen. </li></ul>

On March 18 1966 , film Armaan was released and became one of the most cherished accomplishments of the industry. <ul><li>It was Pakistan’s first Platinum Jubilee movie. </li></ul><ul><li>It was declared the best movie of the year 1966.It got a total of 6 Nigaar awards. </li></ul><ul><li>The Cast of the Movie contained: </li></ul><ul><li>Waheed Murad, Zeba, Tarranum, Nirala, Rozina, </li></ul><ul><li>M.   7. 7. The chocolate Hero of Pakistan Waheed Murad was the very first ‘heart throb’ and ’super star’ of Pakistan. He gave a new style of acting and that is why people have not forgotten about his movies 42 years down the road now . No film-star in Pakistan has had the sway over the public imagination that he had at his peak; for many, the myth reigns still .
  8. 8. The one movie star who was greater than life in somewhat similar dimensions, was Sultan Rahi. Zeba was one of the most respected, gorgeous and graceful woman in Pakistan film industry. Her real name is Shaheen. During her twenty seven year acting career, She earned three NIGAR awards .
  9. 9. Nadeem's fame knew no bounds in 1968. Avery well known, versatile and mega star who became the ambassador of Pakistani cinema in South Asia.

President Zia-ul-Haq's Islamisation, military coup and the downfall (1979–1987) <ul><li>He began to Islamicise the country and one of the very first victims of this socio-political change included the film industry . </li></ul><ul><li>Imposed new registration laws for film producers. </li></ul><ul><li>New tax rates were introduced, further decreased cinema attendances . </li></ul>
  15. 15. <ul><li>Films dropped from a total output of 98 films in 1979, of which 42 were in Urdu, to only 58 films (26 in Urdu) in 1980 . </li></ul><ul><li>Waheed Murad, the chocolate hero died in 1983 due to alcohol abuse and stomach cancer . </li></ul>

Collapse (1988–2002) <ul><li>By the early 90s, the annual output dropped to around 40 films, all produced by a single studio . </li></ul><ul><li>In 1989, Anjuman got married to Mobeen Malik, quitting from playback signing . </li></ul><ul><li>Sultan Rahi was murdered in 1996. </li></ul><ul><li>By late 90s, the same industry that at one time produced more than a 100 films annually was now reduced to merely 32 per year. </li></ul>

Facts <ul><li>No sense of publicity among producers. </li></ul><ul><li>Actors are taken due to personal interest in movies. </li></ul><ul><li>Less chance is given to new actors. </li></ul><ul><li>Only one film Khuda key liye by Shoaib mansoor is liked by people during recent years. </li></ul>
  19. 19. An eye on cinema theatres <ul><li>The country boasted 750 cinema theatres in 1990 (even more before then), but that number had declined to 175 by 2002. </li></ul><ul><li>The remaining cinemas are reported to be in very poor condition, and in desperate need of attention . </li></ul>
