What is Reggaeton? Reggaeton is a form of urban and dance music that blends Jamaican music influences with those of Latin America. ☻ ☻
Did Reggaeton originate in Puerto Rico or Panama? Everyone has their own opinion about where Reggeaton really started . Some people say it originated from Puerto Rico, and others say it originated from Panama. Some people even say that it originated from Dominican Republic ! Yet, the truth of the matter is that Reggaeton started in Panama, but it was promoted in Puerto Rico and spread to other parts of the world.
What is the misunderstanding of the origins of Reggaeton?
Although it was influenced by various other musical directions, like North American Hip-Hop and Puerto Rican rhythms, Reggaeton actually developed from Jamaican Reggae. However, everybody thinks Reggaeton orginated from Latin America.
Raymond Ayala was born on February 3, 1976 in Río Piedras, Puerto Rico, also known publicly as Daddy Yankee and sometimes El Cangri * , is a reggaeton singer. His other nicknames include The Big Boss, The King, and El Jefe * . Yankee married Mireddys Gonzalez when he was 17 and they have three children. He is famous for recording songs in both English and Spanish, and his current fame comes from the hit song "Gasolina", from his 2004 album, "Barrio Fino". The album has sold over 1,000,000 copies in Puerto Rico alone and has also sold well in the United States and Europe. He was first involved in music in the early 1990s alongside Playero DJ, a pioneer of reggaeton music. Recently, Daddy Yankee has turned his attention to the movie industry. Talento de Barrio, is the title of his film which is about a man from the barrio * who finds salvation through urban music. Yankee claims the film is only very roughly autobiographical .
