  • 1. The CourtThe net, divides the court into twoequal sections.
  • 2. TeamsVolleyball is played by twocompeting teams. The teams aredivided on the court by the net, andeach team has six players on thecourt. Three players are positionedin the front row near the net andthree players are in the back row.Each team can only hit the ball threetimes before the ball must travelover the net to the other team. Thesame player cannot hit the ball fortwo consecutive hits.
  • 3. ServingA team wins the serving when theopposing team fails to volley the ballover the net within three hits. Beforeserving the ball, a team must rotateclockwise one position. The player whorotates into the back-right position willserve the ball. That player must standbehind the serving line when serving theball. The server can use his hand or armto hit the ball. The ball must go over thenet and fall within the boundary lines onthe opposing teams side. If the servingteam wins the point, then the sameplayer will continue to serve the ball.
  • 4. ScoringA team scores a point if it is servingthe ball and the opposing team fails toreturn the ball. A team may fail toreturn the ball because the ball hitsthe ground, the ball is hit out ofbounds or the ball is hit more thanthree times by the team. The first teamto 21 points wins the game. The teamthat wins two out of three games winsthe match.
