  • 3. Minimum Motorcycle CoverageAs with auto insurance coverage, California requires motorcycleoperators to carry minimum coverage to protect themselves, theirpassengers and others on the road. The minimum motorcyclecoverage allowed in California breaks down to: – $15,000 for injury/death to one person – $30,000 for injury/death to more than one person – $5,000 for damage to property
  • 4. Additional Motorcycle CoverageYou can add to your motorcycle insurance policy to help ensure thatyou will be protected in the case of an accident. Insurance coveragesto consider include: – Medical payments coverage – Uninsured motorist coverage – Custom parts and equipment insurance
  • 5. California Helmet LawsWhile some states allow motorcycle operators to waive the use of ahelmet so long as they carry extra insurance, California does not. Allmotorcycle operators in California are required to wear a helmet atall times, regardless of amount of insurance carried.

Other 2 and 3-Wheeled VehiclesOperators of scooters, recreational vehicles and other 2 and 3-wheeled vehicles are also required to carry insurance in California. – Scooter operators are required to buy motorcycle insurance – Recreational vehicle drivers are required to buy recreational vehicle insurance
