Conclusions • ADVA Optical Networking offers a low-cost, high-performance 100Gb/s solution: • This solution is based on using 4x28Gb/s Duobinary carriers with directdetection. • The high tolerance of this 100G solution to linear impairments has been confirmed • • • OSNR requirements that are similar to those of 100G coherent channels A dispersion tolerance of +500 ps/nm Negative penalty from the cascade of ROADMs • The transmission of a 4x28G super-channel is demonstrated over one of the most challenging link configurations for 100G channel upgrades: • • Transmission over 1500-km of TWRS fiber in the 1530nm regime. 76x10G OOK channels co-propagated with the 100G channel. Compared to the coherent 100G solution this solution trades off spectral-efficiency for lower cost, lower power consumption, lower latency and a significantly higher tolerance to nonlinear effects 5 © 2014 ADVA Optical Networking.
