The Asmat are indigenous hunter gatherer culture in Westpapua,Indonesia.
The West Papua is about half of a very large island just northof Australia in the South Pacific Ocean.
The traditional Asmat are one of the last hunter gatherercultures in the world.
One tradition of the Asmat is the piercing of the septum of thenose.
Another tradition of the Asmat painting the faces and body forboth ceremony and war.
Traditional Asmat culture is truly freaky with the piercing on thenose.
Sadly though,deforestation, colonization and assimilation aredeeply effecting The Asmat.
Irreversibly,this is the ending of one of earths last traditionalhunter gatherer cultures. The modern world is taking over...
