  2. 2. What is a Discussion? <ul><li>A Discussion and a Blog is similar in function. However, the main difference between the two lies in their purpose. </li></ul><ul><li>Blog posts are similar to editorials, and is more useful for fully formed pieces of writing where the purpose isn’t so much as to spark off ideas between you and your readers but to deliver a message.. </li></ul><ul><li>How then, do you create a Blog post on Connect? </li></ul>
  3. 3. How to post a blog <ul><li>If you want to post a blog, first go to the blogs page by simply clicking on the “Blogs” link in the top navigational bar. </li></ul>
  4. 4. How to post a blog <ul><li>You will then be taken to the blog pages, where you can add a blog post by clicking on “Add a Blog Post” on the right. </li></ul>

  6. 6. Editing your post <ul><li>The text entry includes standard text formatting options. </li></ul><ul><li>Such as Bold </li></ul><ul><li>Italics </li></ul><ul><li>Underline </li></ul><ul><li>And Strikethrough </li></ul>
  7. 7. Editing your post <ul><li>Simply highlight the text you wish to format, and click one of the buttons. The HTML code will appear, and bracket the selected words… </li></ul>
  8. 8. Editing your post <ul><li>but there is no need to worry as these are merely there to format the text, and will look like this when you post your article. As you can see, the brackets do not appear. </li></ul>

How to create links, and include pictures <ul><li>Other more advanced options also exist, such as the ability to… </li></ul><ul><li>create a hyperlink ( ), which lets you link to another website. </li></ul><ul><li>To include pictures ( ), and… </li></ul><ul><li>uploading file attachments ( ) from your computer. </li></ul><ul><li>Once again the HTML coding will appear. </li></ul>

Creating hyperlinks <ul><li>Once you do so, and press enter, or click on the OK button, the code will be generated into the blog entry box. </li></ul><ul><li>The previously highlighted words (in this case the word is “here”) will then become a hyperlink to your desired website (i.e. “http://www.testwebsite.com”) </li></ul>
  13. 13. Creating hyperlinks <ul><li>You can also use the hyperlink button to create a hyperlink to an email address. Simply enter “mailto:” before the email address into the textbox that appears when you click on the hyperlink button </li></ul>
  14. 14. Creating hyperlinks <ul><li>Likewise, the previously highlighted words (in this case “email”) will then generate HTML code to create a hyperlink to the designated email address. </li></ul>

  16. 16. How to add a picture <ul><li>Adding pictures is simple. Simply click on the button and then a box will appear asking you to either provide the address to a picture that has already been uploaded, or to upload a picture from your computer, as you would an email attachment. </li></ul>

  25. 25. How to post a blog <ul><li>Once you have finished typing up your blog. Click on Preview to see what the finished post will look like, and if you’re happy with the work click on publish. </li></ul><ul><li>The post then will appear on the blog page once it has been approved. </li></ul>
