The Sphinx <ul><li>The Sphinx is a mythological figure, and is describe as a lion with a human head. </li></ul><ul><li>Its origins came from the Old kingdom Egypt. </li></ul><ul><li>Then it became a cultural import to Greek. </li></ul><ul><li>On the side, that’s a picture of a sphinx. </li></ul>

Features of the Sphinx <ul><li>Sphinx is one of the best known structures built by the Egyptians. </li></ul><ul><li>It is 73.5 meters (241 feet) long, 6 m (40 ft) wide, 20 m (65 ft) high. </li></ul><ul><li>One of the worlds largest and older statues. </li></ul><ul><li>Known for the earliest monumental sculptures. </li></ul>

The Egyptian Sphinx <ul><li>That picture on the side is the Great Sphinx Of Giza. </li></ul><ul><li>It is carved from a bedrock for the Giza Plateau </li></ul><ul><li>The structure is very damage because of erosion, because it has been buried over and over again by deserts storm. </li></ul><ul><li>Recently in 1905 the sand has cleared away to see the beautiful Egyptian sphinx. </li></ul>
  6. 6. The missing nose <ul><li>One meter wide nose is missing on the face of the sphinx. </li></ul><ul><li>Legend claim that is was broken of by a cannon by Napoleon's soldiers </li></ul><ul><li>Another reason why it is missing because of 4500 years of wind. </li></ul>

Who ever passed the sphinx and the sphinx would speak and say a riddle if the person got it wrong the person would be eaten if the they got it right the sphinx would let the person pass. </li></ul><ul><li>The riddle of the sphinx is. What goes on 4 legs in the morning, 2 legs in the noon, and 3 legs in the evening. They answer would be a man. The solution to this riddle is a man, who crawls on all legs and arms as a baby, walks on two legs as a adult, and walks with two legs a cane as old man. </li></ul>
  8. 8. More about the sphinx <ul><li>The most common and current theory, that who built the Great sphinx of Giza is the 4 th dynasty king Khafre. </li></ul><ul><li>And said to be him on the Sphinx </li></ul>
  9. 9. More facts <ul><li>The Sphinx has been badly beaten in a lot of places. </li></ul><ul><li>Some traces of plait are near the left of the ear. </li></ul>
