  • 6. Mountain ecosystems are essential to the <br />well-being of the global environment. <br />
  • 7. Mountain environments are essential to the <br />survival of the global ecosystem.<br />
  • 8. Mountains are the home for several natural resources <br />
  • 9. The wild vegetation are surrounding the mountains <br />
  • 10. The beautiful and rich greenery of the mountains,<br />
  • 11. and the rare medicinal plants of the mountains are endangered.<br />
  • 12. Mountains are rich in minerals<br />
  • 13. Mountains are blessed with rare and valuable metals<br />
  • 14. The precious stones of mountains find their application in modern living.<br />
  • 15. The thick forests of the mountain ecosystem bring rainfall.<br />
  • 16. Thisprevents increase in temperature<br />
  • 17. Mountains are susceptible <br />
  • 18. to rough weather and accelerated soil erosion .<br />
  • 19. This has resulted in degradation of mountain ecosystem <br />
  • 20. This has caused rapid loss of habitat<br /> and genetic diversity.<br />
  • 21. It becomes man’s responsibility to protect <br />
  • 22. thetranquility and peace<br />
  • 23. Serenity and the beauty of the Mountains<br />
  • 24. Due to increasing water scarcity, it is becoming increasingly important to protect the mountain ecosystem.<br />
  • 25. Climate change, population growth, deforestation, are the <br />problems confronting the "water towers of the world”.<br />
  • 26. Modern activities like Quarrying<br />
  • 27. Hiking and trekking<br />
  • 28. tourism,<br />
  • 29. development and deforestation<br />
  • 30. mining, <br />
  • 31. Urbanization of mountain <br />regions<br />
  • 32. has resulted in <br />Concrete Jungle !!!<br />
