Online Broadcasting Via You Tube - Presentation Transcript

    1. Nick D, Anna S, Rachel N, Dane L, Jade A Online Broadcasting and YouTube
    2. Guidelines to Online Broadcasting Online Broadcasting via YouTube ranges from all professions and from all backgrounds. The online broadcasting guidelines which are listed here involve a variety of view points ranging from Music Distribution, Quality and Production Values, Tutorials , Radio Broadcasting and Journalism.
    3. Do’s
        • Interact with your audience through social media to increase audience engagement with your podcast/videocast
        • Archive content on your profile to create a back catalogue of your posts and a more interactive experience for your audience.
        • Validate your authority as an informer by being an active participant in other online communities.
        • Shape your news content around your target audience, whether they be a localised audience or a broader non-localised audience
        • Broadcasters should embrace media sites such as YouTube to expand their listening demographic, as the younger generation have a shorter attention span. By using a wider variety of broadcasting platforms such as television and video content, podcasts and blogs the broadcaster is able to access a larger audience and gain more attention through this process.
    4. Don’t
        • Don't settle for your laptop's built in video camera and microphone. Use high production values: A little investment in quality lighting, audio and video camera equipment can go a long way in attracting and maintaining viewer interest.
        • Limit your content to one major video broadcasting site, when specialist broadcasting websites such as Vimeo exist
        • don't use overly technical language that potentially could alienate viewers/followers
        • don't confine your content to one medium: in order for a Videocasting show on Youtube to be successful, it needs to be integrated with other media like mp3 podcasts and blogs. This helps to engage the audience across multiple platforms.
        • Broadcasters should not use the same show content from their regular show and re-use it in other media platforms. By creating new content throughout the exploration and use of other platforms the broadcaster generates excitement and a fresh experience to the show
