  • Great storytellers are great editors, too. They choose to say only what keeps the listener listening.

  • 1. FOCUS - Who is your target audience? - What do they care about? - Where will you tell your story?
  • Before you write your pitch, REALLY THINK about who your audience is. Do that and you’ll already be a better storyteller.
  • 2. CHOOSE Pick only 3 things that make your product intriguing to that audience.
  • If your audience can remember 3 intriguing things about you, they can tell other people. They can also make decisions more easily.
  • Being selective about what to include in your pitch respects your audience. Busy people don’t like unfocused, rambling stories.
  • 3. STRUCTURE Lead with what’s most captivating to your target audience. Then end with it, too.
  • Command your audience’s attention by GETTING RIGHT TO IT. Busy people want the specifics, clearly stated, immediately.
  • Subject line trick Messages = leads 3 sentence rule @steph_hay

  • TRACTION-START (Preferred): We’re [name] and [x] [smb’s] use our [app] every day to [get some outcome/solve problem.] Since our launch only [x time] ago...
