  • 12. JHU-Engineering for Professionals (EP) • Part-Time graduate engineering program • Eleven fully online Master’s degrees • Worldwide program • 1,965 students enrolled in online courses last year
  • 13. EP’s Kaltura • Over 5,600 videos currently in our catalog • Average run time for each video is 15 minutes • Most videos are audio-over-narrated presentation • Example video
  • 14. Current Closed-Captioning • 3PlayMedia does all of EP’s captioning • EP closed captions all videos in an online course when a student enrolled in that course makes a formal request for accommodations or by faculty request.
  • 15. Challenges • In the future, all schools may be required to add captions to all online video content • Estimated cost for EP to complete this in FY 15 is approximately $325,000
  • 16. Strategy • Captioning responsibilities delegated across instructional technology staff – Multimedia staff support instructional designers, who then assist faculty with captioning – All new online courses, as well as online courses going through redesign should be captioned
