    1. “ Get Up ‘n’ Go-Go” Submitted by Alanna Kellogg
        • BAKED OATMEAL AND APPLES
        • Ingredients:
        • 1 cup Old Fashioned Quaker Oats
        • 1 apple, skin on, chopped small
        • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
        • Pinch of cloves, nutmeg and cardamom
        • 1/2 teaspoon table salt
        • 2 tablespoons maple syrup (or honey or agave)
        • 1 cup skim milk
        • 2/3 cup apple cider
        • Directions:
        • Preheat oven to 350F. Stir together all ingredients. Divide among four one-cup ramekins. Bake for 30 – 35 minutes. Serve hot. Make a double or triple batch on the weekend, because leftovers heat well in the microwave, just warm on high for 1 minute.
        • Hands-on time: 10 minutes
        • Time to table: 45 minutes
        • Serves 4

    2. “ Oat of the Ordinary” Submitted by Monique Van Den Berg
        • LEMON POPPYSEED “MUFFIN" OATMEAL
        • Ingredients:
        • 3/4 cup Old Fashioned Quaker Oats
        • 1 cup milk
        • Pinch of salt
        • 1 teaspoon poppy seeds
        • 1/2 teaspoon almond extract.
        • 1 1/2 teaspoon lemon juice.
        • 1 1/2 teaspoon sugar.
        • Directions:
        • Start with 3/4 cup of Quaker oatmeal, 1 cup milk, and a pinch of salt. Add salt and milk to a pot, bring to a boil. Stir in oats. Cook five minutes or until milk evaporates, stirring occasionally. (Note: Can also be made in the microwave, by adding ingredients to a bowl and zapping for two minutes.) In other words: make oatmeal!
        • Once oatmeal is done, add the following: poppy seeds, almond extract, lemon juice and sugar.
        • Now you have the delicious taste of a poppy seed muffin, but healthier, more filling, and more delicious. Stir and enjoy!

    5. “ Winter Quakerland Oatmeal” Submitted by Kath Younger
      • There’s nothing like a steamy bowl of Quaker oatmeal on a cold winter morning. This blend of
      • wintertime flavors marries eggnog and nutmeg with a peppermint crunch in a nutritious and
      • heart healthy breakfast that will keep you warm and healthy from the inside out.
        • WINTER QUAKERLAND OATMEAL
        • Ingredients:
      • ¾ cup Old Fashioned Quaker Oats
      • 1 ¼ cups water
      • ¼ cup Silk Soy Milk Egg Nog
      • 1/8 teaspoon ground nutmeg
      • 1 teaspoon (about 4 grams) crushed candy cane
      • 1 teaspoon (about 7 grams) chopped walnuts, toasted in a dry skillet if desired
      • 1 teaspoon powdered sugar
      •
        • Directions:
      • Crush candy cane in a zip top bag with a heavy pot, mallet, or rolling
      • Pin. Combine oats, water and Silk Nog in a non-stick pot and set heat
      • to medium. When oatmeal begins to thicken, begin to whip vigorously
      • with a spatula, allowing the Starch to be released. Continue whipping
      • oats until reaching desired thickness, about 5 minutes. Stir in nutmeg.
      • Pour oatmeal into bowl and top with crushed candy cane and walnuts.

    6. “ Nutty Orange Monkey Oats” Submitted by Anne-Marie Nichols
      • Try this burst of tropical sunshine on a cold winter morning. People who are allergic to tree

      • ¾ cup uncooked Old Fashioned Quaker Oats
      • ½ cup Tropicana Pure Premium® Calcium + Vitamin D

      • 30 (approximately 3 teaspoons) pine nuts (also called pignolia or pinyon nuts)
      • ¼ teaspoon cinnamon
      • Preparation:
      • In a microwave safe bowl, combine the Quaker Oats with the Tropicana
      • orange juice, and water. Add the pine nuts and banana slices and sprinkle
      • cinnamon over the top. Microwave on high for 2 minutes. Remove from

      • Having one of those mornings where the whole family is running late?
      • Try this idea for a bowl of Nutty Orange Monkey Oats on the Go:
      • 1. After cooking the oatmeal and other ingredients, pour it into an electric blender.
      • 2. Add 1/2 to 1 cup of warm water and blend until smooth.
      • 3. Immediately pour into a wide mouthed shaker bottle. (It will be too thick to drink through a
      • straw.)
      • 4. Enjoy on your way to school or work.

    8. “ Overnight Swiss Oatmeal” Submitted by Jenna Weber
      • This overnight oatmeal has been a creation of mine that I have enjoyed for years. Because of the Greek yogurt,
      • the bowl contains a whopping 18 grams of protein and, therefore, keeps you going for hours on end. The
      • inclusion of sliced almonds adds healthy monounsaturated fats, which help reduce the LDL cholesterol (bad!)
      • and raise the HDL cholesterol (good!). Plus, this oatmeal is perfectly suited for busy mornings when you just
      • don’t have time to stand in front of the stove or microwave cooking your oats. Here, the oats “cook” overnight in
      • the water as they soften, reducing the need for heat. This breakfast bowl can be ready in 3 minutes flat and is
      • even appetizing on hot summer days when a steamy bowl of oatmeal is not. I love to enjoy this oatmeal with a
      • hot cup of black tea. Enjoy!
      • OVERNIGHT SWISS OATMEAL
      • Ingredients:
      • 3/4 cup Quaker Quick Oats
      • 1/2 cup water
      • pinch of sea salt
      • 1/2 cup plain non-fat Greek yogurt (such as Fage or Oikos brand)
      • 1/2 banana, sliced thin
      • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
      • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
      • 1 teaspoon pure maple syrup
      • 1 tablespoon sliced almonds
      • 1/2 small apple, grated
      •
        • Directions:
      • The night before, combine the oats and the water in a cereal bowl along with a pinch
      • of sea salt. Let sit overnight in the fridge. In the morning, take out the bowl from the
      • fridge and add the greek yogurt, grated apple, cinnamon, nutmeg and banana. Stir to
      • combine. Top with the sliced almonds and the pure maple syrup. Enjoy!
