FACEBOOK UPDATES Think about types of updates and vary the content Questions Statements News „Behind the scenes‟ Sharing content from partners/ local interest Mentioning other events which are on in the area
SCHEDULE A FUTURE POST Posts can be scheduled for a future date Or backdated to feature events in your history
POST AN UPDATE WITH A LINK To share a news item found elsewhere on the web, copy the web address (URL) and then paste it into your status update. Images from the post will feature, unless you „remove thumbnail‟
VIDEO CONTENT FROM YOUTUBE If you, or others, create useful content on YouTube, it can be shared on your Facebook Timeline which will allow your followers to watch the video within your timeline
PHOTOGRAPHS ON FACEBOOK Facebook interaction is enhanced with photographs, so use them often, or share photographs which others have taken (remember to credit them)
PHOTOGRAPHS ON FACEBOOK (5) You can „tag‟ friends or pages by typing @ and then starting to type their name – select the name from the list presented Tagging means your friend/ page will be notified that you have tagged them and can approve this tag so that others may see it Use the spaces provided to add more information about photographs, and particularly links Seek out good photographs for your header image and change it periodically to add interest to the page (e.g. seasonal, monthly, to feature an event)
MANAGING POSTS BY OTHERS You do want followers of your page to share content with you. Occasionally however this can be a nuisance, or inappropriate for your page You can remove posts which are abusive, or against the aims of the page You can also block persistent offenders Remember, this is your page!
HOW FREQUENTLY TO POST? Think about how often you would like to receive an update from a page you are following Think about when those who follow you are likely to be on Facebook Aim for once a day to start with – remember to schedule a post for the weekend days too Vary content Check what is working Check when your most popular posts are, and what type Experiment, and adapt to suit your audience
PROMOTING YOUR PAGE In the early days of running a FB page, promoting it „offline‟ is going to be important Tell people you have a page Email – include your FB link in your email signature http://facebook.com/BorderUnion Letters – next time you have them printed, add the FB logo and link Posters Billboards Think Facebook!
