  • chantelle_wong chantelle_wong Dear Sirs

we are based in Singapore and have been raising funds to sponsor orphans' educations and schools for the past years in India. And we noticed the presence of donor fatigue symptoms among our donors.

In order to ensure the sustainability of our social work and to benefit more people in India, we would like to set up a special fund for social business. We would like to explore the possibility of private fund management vehicle. Through this fund vehicle, the fund will invest in businesses and we will use the profit generated to support our current charity work. Our source of fund will be from potential donors. Instead of donating directly into schools/orphanages, it will be channeled to business. The profits from the business will be used to support the charity work on continual/sustainable basis.

Would you able to advise what kind of structure of company we can set up so that it is tax exempted? i.e. Charitable Trust, Society, section 25 company? Are these non-profit organization setting allowed commercial business???

If we are to donate our business profit to our designated charity i.e. sponsorship of orphanage and school, will it be 100% tax rebate? and are there any cap to % of income that are contributable??

    Thanks.
