    • Out of the Box The first steps after you turn on your iPad.Basic Setup 2
    • Enable Location Services If you plan to use Find My iPad or other geographic based Apps, you need to enable Location Services.Basic Setup 3
    • Find the Wireless Network At school, you will connect to Guest.Basic Setup 4
    • Choose Setup Choose Set Up as a New iPadBasic Setup 5
    • Create a Free Apple ID For the district iPads, you will create an Apple ID using your district email.Basic Setup 6
    • Select your birthdate. This is used to help retrieve your password if you forget it.Basic Setup 7
    • Add Your Name Enter your first and last names using the keyboard.Basic Setup 8
    • Set Email Choose Use your current email address (which will be your Farmington address)Basic Setup 9
    • Type Your Email Enter your work email. This will be your Apple ID.Basic Setup 10
    • Create a Password. Type your password. Do not use your work password.Basic Setup 11
    • Create a reminder question and answer. Choose a question and type your answer. This will help you retrieve your password if you forget it.Basic Setup 12
    • Choose Email Updates If you want to receive Apple news and updates, leave the Email Updates On.Basic Setup 13
    • Review the Terms of Service Click Agree after you have looked at the Terms.Basic Setup 14
    • Choose Don’t Use iCloud at this time. Later you can set up iCloud which is a place online to store photos, calendars and more.Basic Setup 15
    • Back Up Choose Back Up to My Computer. Directions will follow regarding this backup.Basic Setup 16
    • Turn on Find My iPad This will help locate a lost iPad.Basic Setup 17
    • Sharing Diagnostics Suggested setting is Don’t Send diagnostic information to Apple.Basic Setup 18
    • Congrats! Your iPad is now set up! Click Start Using iPad!Basic Setup 19
    • Find the Serial Number The district uses the Serial Number to help with organization and support of district-owned iPads.Basic Setup 20
    • On the iPad You can find the serial number etched into the back of the iPad.Basic Setup 21
    • In the Settings The Serial Number is also listed in Settings General Serial NumberBasic Setup 22
    • Set a Passcode Since you will be connecting your district email and other resources to the iPad, you must protect your data. The first step is to set a Passcode.Basic Setup 23
    • Click on Passcode Lock Turn it from Off to On.Basic Setup 24
    • Choose Turn Passcode OnBasic Setup 25
    • Set your passcode. This passcode should NOT be the same as your district password or your Apple ID password.Basic Setup 26
    • Choose Erase Data This will erase all data on the iPad after 10 failed passcode attempts. This is a safety mechanism in case the iPad is lost or stolen.Basic Setup 27
    • Erase Data Confirm that you want to Enable Erase Data.Basic Setup 28
    • Name your iPad This is the naming convention for all district-owned iPads.Basic Setup 29
