What is a Cluster? <ul><li>A cluster is a collaboration of companies and industries </li></ul><ul><li>In a geographic area, which are interrelated by the segments they serve, and the goods they produce </li></ul><ul><li>In addition to the suppliers, trade associations and educational institutions </li></ul><ul><li>Clusters develops and commercializes new ideas and businesses. </li></ul>

Automotive Cluster Toronto <ul><li>Three major auto Cluster – General Motors, Ford and DaimlerChrysler – collectively operate six assembly plants in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA). </li></ul><ul><li>More than 700 parts manufacturers help make the GTA one of the most vital and diverse automotive clusters on the continent. </li></ul>

Automotive Cluster Toronto <ul><li>GTA automotive companies employ close to 50,000 workers, second only to Detroit, and produce more than 1.1 million cars, trucks and minivans per year. </li></ul><ul><li>The Greater Toronto Area is the second largest automotive cluster in North America. </li></ul>

Ford’s Focus – The Focus <ul><li>Ford introduced their new 8 lineup of vehicles at the Canadian Auto Show. </li></ul><ul><li>The two most notable were: </li></ul><ul><ul><li>The 2011 Edge with the interior headlight treatment and slick My Touch technology. </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>The other one being the 2011 Lincoln MKX which is built in Oakville, Ontario, has a more dramatic outline and is more evolved. </li></ul></ul>

Mercedes Has a Beauty Presentation <ul><li>Mercedes-Benz had an impact on the 2010 Canadian International Auto Show held in Toronto. </li></ul><ul><li>Mercedes-Benz new 300 SL was the highlight of its brand with new gull-wing doors and leather-bound interior made this car irresistible. </li></ul>
    9. 9. All-new BMW 5 Series makes debut in New York <ul><li>BMW introduced its all new 2011 5 Series in New York at the International Auto Show. </li></ul><ul><li>The 5 Series has the longest wheelbase in segment, with a long and sleek hood, short overhangs and a coupe-like roofline. </li></ul>

Honda to restart ideal production line in Alliston <ul><li>Honda’s Alliston plant located in Ontario is restarted a second shift and adding more than 400 jobs. </li></ul><ul><li>This is going to be good news for the Canadian automotive cluster, showing signs of recovery. </li></ul><ul><li>The Alliston plant produces the Civic sedan, Acura MDX and Acura ZDX. </li></ul>
