First Business Trip – Fast Facts - Presentation Transcript

    1. First Business Trip – Fast Facts -- Stacey L. Vernooy Sometimes we forget, and need to be reminded, first timers may not know...
    2. Meals, Parking, the Expenses add up quickly
      • Keep a running total of expenses by day.
        • Meals
        • Gas
        • Parking
        • Office Supplies
        • Miscellaneous
          • Conference admission, membership fees, donations etc
          • First we try, then we Learn for next time…
    3. When traveling to the States…
      • Always have current business cards, a pen, a small pad of paper, a pack of gum/mints
      • (to share)
      • Change of clothes in carry on
        • Lost luggage = uncomfortable traveling clothes during business presentations and immediate expenses to replace any necessary items.
      • Tax forms to complete for reimbursement of taxes paid in business travel
        • Even as a small amount it may be handy to know where the ‘extra’ money went on the trip.
    4. Know where your commissions are…
      • Expenses not covered by the company on items that can’t be used after, are your responsibility.
      • Your accountant wasn’t on the trip with you, neither was the auditor
      • Receipts get lost and Day timers may not have all the details, try to stay current
      • The Accounting department has several people to maintain after a business conference, be First IN to be First OUT (paid), understand their time
      • No one wins with high interest, low interest cards travel well, paid as soon as you can. Rotate with credit lines to keep balances manageable.
    5. You represent yourself, your company and your parents, your children will follow in your footsteps …
      • Remember that when you’re drinking, taking a dare or waking up in alleys…
      • Have fun, you were sent because you did a good job, and deserve to meet ‘head office’
      • Who you meet today, you may need tomorrow, networking is casual persistence, your career is steps away
    6. Thank you Questions, Concerns and Comments…
