Throughout the ages, this region facedmany difficult and sad experiences. Itsvaried past led to creating here a uniquemixture of nations, cultures and religions.
Silesia has preserved vivid traditions offolk culture. Former customs, habits,song and dances are presented duringvarious folclore festivities. An essentialelement of the culture is the regional wayof cooking and a specific dialect.

Tourist leisure activities are today proving tobe more and more popular here. The Beskidymountains attract attention of people from allover the Europe, where tourist routes areprepared for hiking and cycling. The secondmost often visited place is the region of theKrakowsko-Częstochowska upland, with itspicturesque linestone formations.
LUBLINIEC – our city
The town and municipality of Lubliniec arelocated in the north-western part of the Silesianprovince, in the middle section of the WoźnikiHummock. The town is 56 km away from thecapital of the province – Katowice, 35 km awayfrom Częstochowa and 50 km from Opole.
Lubliniec has a favourable location in terms of itstraffic connections. In the town there is a largerailway junction, connecting Katowice withPoznao and Częstochowa with Opole. The area ofthe district is also intersected with the mainroutes of road transport, making this town animportant strategic point on the map of Poland.
It is smalltown withpopulation of25-thousandsinhabitants.
The Lubliniec land, located amongst woods andnumerous water reservoirs, far from industrialcentres full of smoke and noise, is called a ”GreenSilesia”, as well as ”Green Lungs of Silesia”.
The town also promotes walking tourism. For thefans of this form of recreation, tourists routeshave been laid out, leading through Lubliniec.The city of Lubliniec prides itself on bicycletrails, 120 km long. Most of them are situated inthe forest area.
