The Trojan War The Trojan War Presentation Transcript

    • The Trojan War By: Nathalie Villegas and Ryan Ratner Block 1
      • The Trojan War is one of the most important events in Greek mythology.
      • The ten year war came around after Paris of Troy stole the wife of Menelaus, the king of Sparta.
      • During this war, the Achaeans battled the city of Troy.
    • Map of the Trojan War
      • The Trojan War started because of a feud between three goddesses: Athena, Hera, and Aphrodite.
      • The goddess of strife and discord, Eris, gave them a golden apple that was marked to be “for the fairest”.
      • The goddesses went to Paris, the king of Troy, who judged Aphrodite as the fairest.
      • Because of this, Aphrodite made Helen fall in love with Paris and he took her back to Troy.
      • Since Agamemnon was Menelaus’ brother, he led his Achaean troops to attack Troy.
    • The Trojan Horse
      • The walls of Troy were very strong, so the Achaeans developed a master plan to overcome this obstacle.
      • Odysseus had a large, hollow, wooden horse built.
      • He and some of his Greek warriors stayed inside while the rest of them left to deceive the Trojans.
      • Sinon pretended to be angry and told the Trojans he was left behind and that the horse was safe and would bring luck.
    • Trojan Horse Cont…
      • Trojans celebrated their “victory” and rolled in the horse.
      • After most Trojans were asleep or drunk, Sinon let out the warriors who slaughtered the Trojans.
    • The Trojan Horse
      • The conquering of Troy with the Trojan Horse is believed to be what ended the Trojan war.
      • The Trojan War is a historical event that happened in ancient Greece.
      • However, some people today believe that the war and even the city of Troy did not exist.
    • The End Thanks for watching!
