  • 1. 00 THE (LDN) PETAL TABLE OPEN SOURCE DESIGN FOR A TABLE contact | alice.fung@hubmakelab.org / indy.johar@hubmakelab.org
  • 2. 01 STATEMENT OF INTENT (LDN) PETAL TABLE IS AN OPEN SOURCE KIT FOR HUB LIKE ENVIRONMENTS. WE WOULD LIKE TO GIFT THIS TABLE AS AN OPEN SOURCE DESIGN TO THE NETWORK. MAKE IT. REMAKE IT. IMPROVE IT. WE INVITE YOU TO SHARE THIS AS PART OF THE HUB JOURNEY. WE’D LOVE TO SEE OTHERS TAKE A LITTLE OWNERSHIP OF THE TABLE BY GIVING THE TABLES AN EDITABLE NAME (”INSERT YOUR HUB NAME HERE”) PETAL TABLES WE ONLY ASK THAT YOU TREAT THE KNOWLEDGE WITH RESPECT AND SHARE YOUR IMPROVEMENTS WITH THE REST OF THE NETWORK. alice.fung@hubmakelab.org / indy.johar@hubmakelab.org
  • 3. 02 BACKGROUND. WHAT DOES IT DO? IT IS INSPIRED BY THE ORIGINAL PETAL BASICS | 3 leaves of different sizes; can seat 5-7 SOCIABLE CURVES | in the spirit of the TABLE AT THE HUB ANGEL BY KATY persons for touchdown work; 2 leaves at task height + original petal table, the (LDN) petal table has evolved MARKS. 1 smaller leaf at bar stool or standing height; the curves on the different leaves to make it possible for a huddled group of 2-3 persons to gather at the end WE HAVE ADDED A FEW THINGS AND MOBILE | our experience shows us that hub type of each leaf; the edges of the table are angled for HOPE IT SPEAKS TO THE SPIRIT OF THE spaces need to fulfill many functions in the same space individuals to sit opposite each other without directly HUB AND THE HUB MEMBERSHIP – at different times of the day and year. The (LDN) petal facing each other allowing them to “sit individuall – but BRINGING PEOPLE TOGETHER TO MAKE table is mobile on wheels making it easy to move. The together” CHANGE IN THE WORLD. leaves fold over each other to make it a compact object to move. TABLE CONFIGURATIONS | the (LDN) petal table can be easily arranged loosely in open plan POWER | the table is directly powered with plug spaces and we’ve found they work well to create points located on the underside of the table. This density in space while still having the feel of breathing allows the table to be sited relatively freely away from space. The table can also be used together to form walls making layouts more flexible. The power is larger table formats for workshops, dinners & supplied to the table from one connection point - in meetings. this design, the power is supplied from a hanging power cable with cable runs along the ceiling avoiding EASY STORAGE | hubs are always busy and trip hazhards on the floor. throbbing with people and activity leaving little spare room for storage of equipment. The collapsible leaf structure allows a large table to be folded into half its size by one host in 2 easy moves and no need for any tools. alice.fung@hubmakelab.org / indy.johar@hubmakelab.org
