  • 2. HAIKU •A Japanese poetry form •Popular all over the world •Uses imagistic language •Only one sentence
  • 3. HAIKU ▫ Traditional haiku consist of 17 “on”(also known as “morae”) ▫ Three phrases of 5, 7 and 5 “on” respectively ▫ Kigo (phrase that symbolizes the season/nature of the poem) ▫ Kireji (cutting word)
  • 4. HAIKU furuike ya kawazu tobikomu mizu no oto -Bashō fu-ru-i-ke ya (5) ka-wa-zu to-bi-ko-mu (7) mi-zu no o-to (5) -Bashō old pond . . . a frog leaps in water’s sound at the age old pond a frog leaps into water a deep resonance ( English style ) পুর োর ো পুকু ব্যোরে লোফ জরল শব্দ। পুর োর ো ড োব্ো, দোদুর লোফোরলো ডে, জরলরে ধ্বর । -translated by “TAGOR” at-the-age-old-pond (5) a-frog-leaps-in-to-wat-er (7) a-deep-res-on-ance (5) •No rhyme scheme in last পু-ড ো-ড ো-ড ো-ব্ো, (৫) দো-দু-র -লো-ফো-ডলো-ডে, (৭) জ-ডল-ডে-ধ্ব-র । (৫) •অক্ষ ব্ৃত্ত ছন্দ •অন্ত্যরিল োই ড োর ো ছন্দ রক্ষে হয়র
  • 5. HAIKU MYSELF: উরে ব্লো ো, ীরলরে ভোরে েোদো; ঐ ছোরিয়ো ো। উরে ব্লো ো, (২+৩= ৫) ( ) ীরলরে ভোরে েোদো; (৩+২+২= ৭) ( ) ঐ ছোরিয়ো ো। (১+৪= ৫) ( ) •িোত্রোব্ৃত্ত ছন্দ • অন্ত্যরিল - -
